Professional Development
Professional Qualifications: Upon completion of my BSc I took the CIOB Final Examination Part 3, being elected to Corporate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB, Chartered Builder) in 1983. Having successfully taken the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) (48 hour) Test of Professional Competence (TPC), I was granted Corporate Membership of the RICS (ARICS, Chartered Quantity Surveyor) in 1983.
In 1984 I was elected Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb) and in 1999 was elevated to Member of that Institute (MCIArb).
I was elected Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB) in 2004. In the same year I became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).
In 2008 I was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) and also as a Fellow of the Institute of Continuing Professional Development (FInstCPD).
I have successfully completed the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Training Pathway Module 3 - Practice, Procedure, Drafting and Deciding (Adjudication), receiving a distinction (71%) and Module 4, Award Writing (Adjudication). I have been elevated to Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and have been awarded a Diploma in Construction Adjudication by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Professional Service: Following a period of service as a Committee Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) London Region, I served as Honorary Treasurer of the CIOB London Region Committee from 2000 to 2005. During this period I was accredited by the CIOB to act as a Panel Member for the Purposes of the Professional Interview for Corporate Membership (MCIOB). At present I serve the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as both an APC/ATC (MRICS) Chair / Assessor and as a Fellowship (FRICS) Assessor.
A Panel that I had the honour to chair (APC, 1st session, 2014, Park Inn Heathrow) was audited and I was informed by RICS communication dated 23rd May, 2014:
"The auditor has recommended that you receive a Positive outcome and I would like to congratulate you on achieving this standard. Any additional comments from the auditor are stated below:
A very good panel."
Another Panel that I had the honour to chair (APC, 2nd Session, 2017, Park Inn Heathrow) was audited and I was informed by RICS communication dated 15th January, 2018:
"The auditor has recommended that you receive a Positive outcome and I would like to congratulate you on achieving this standard. Any additional comments from the auditor are stated below:
A very good APC interview delivered by a well prepared panel."
